Over 15 million tourists are targeted to visit Dubai by 2015, so I, Sarah Lea Safarian intern at Columbus PRCo, felt as a local of this city, it is my duty to provide my five best recommendations for first-time travelers to Dubai. Read on to experience innovation, grandeur and excitement…
1. Dune Bashing – In the deserts of Dubai, jump in an SUV and be prepared for a wild ride. While coasting up and down sand dunes through the Arabian Desert, snatch views of the breathtaking landscape in between all the bumps and slides. Following the thrilling ride, head for a tented camp and join the locals in a belly dance and delicious cuisine.
2. Ski in a Mall – With temperatures at times reaching 118 degrees Fahrenheit, Dubai offers the perfect respite…skiing. Ski Dubai is a snow park inside the Mall of Emirates for travelers looking for a unique skiing and snowboarding experience.
3. Shop till you Drop – With over 1,000 international brands offered, The Dubai Mall is the ultimate venue for a designer shopping spree. Not only is it the world’s largest shopping mall, but an activity and entertainment-filled empire as well. After a day of shopping, wind down and meet over 33,000 sea animals through floor-to-ceiling glass windows at the Dubai Mall Aquarium, known for holding the Guinness World Record for Largest Acrylic Viewing Panel.
4. Ride a Camel – Whether spending the day at the beach or on a desert safari, take a ride on a Camel. As they walk on the warm desert sand, feel the sun on your face and appreciate an animal that locals have lived along side with for many years.
5. Bargain with the Locals – Meet and bargain with the locals at the Dubai Gold Souk, where over 300 jewelers located on a strip will get you to experience your first Gold overdose. The ‘Gold Souk’ is a market where gold jewelry is traded and sold at such a bargain, you’d think it grew on trees. It is the Gold Souk that has given Dubai its famous title: “City of Gold.”
